Shannon from the Fitted Knits Along tagged me for the Seven Random Facts Meme.
Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged need to write on their own blog those 7 facts as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.
1. I was a synchronized swimmer in college (a few decades ago). I loved my team and had many opportunities to travel to different schools and compete. My senior year I was also the assistant coach.
2. I almost took another job but after I made the decision and before I notified the school I randomly stopped at a grocery store and there I ran into the teacher who I work with. When I told him I was going to take the other job he incouraged me not to so I held out for the rest of the week and was offered my current job.
3. Last year on Carolyn's 21st birthday I called her and asked her what she would like for her birthday dinner and cake (in her case dessert). She wanted hamburgers, broccoli, watermelon and blueberry pie. So I fixed the dinner and we celebrated. The only hitch was she was in Philly and we were home in Chicago.
4. I completed an electrionic master's program through Virginia Tech in 2003. It was one of the most worthwhile programs I have ever done. Sadly halfway through the program the university decided to discontinue the department for bugetary reasons so our cohort was the last to complete the program.
5. Our family lived in Sunninghill England for a year. One of the things I learned is that there can be a language barrier even when you speak the same language.
6. I taught preschool for 5 years when Lily started preschool. At first I just taught when Lily was in preschool. As she went on to Kindergarten I added 4 afternoons to my schedule and felt like I was working full time (for next to no pay).
7. My immediate family (my parents, sister and brother) all live within 5 minutes of me. This has not always been the case. For 20 years I lived in a neighboring town (about 10 minutes away). My brother and his family spent a couple years living in Conneticuit. We all live closer than ever right now. Even my sister moved closer (she was about 1 1/2 miles from my parents and now she is just around the corner).
I am supposed to tag 7 people to do this and comment on their blog. Since so many people have already been tagged if you have not been tagged consider yourself tagged now. If you comment her that you are accepting the tag I will visit your blog and comment.
