One thing at a time, Not

Making a little progress on the caplet. I love this yarn. So soft and a fast knit. I love this yellow, it has gold tones in it, the color has been discontinued though. If I keep plugging at it I may be able to wear it this season.

The plastic bag holder is almost done. I knit some more after I took this picture yesterday. The Clip yarn from Klaus Koch Kollection is a little splitty and the larger needles cause my hands to ache but it knits up fast and will be put to use right away.

I have knit a few rows of Mandy's Candy Bag and should motivate to finish it. Then I will have to make more caramels to fill it for Marla.
My books came in the mail Friday.

I think I am going to start (notice the verb choice) with the Little Sky Sock from New Pathways for Sock Knitters. I have a little of the worsted weight yarn I dyed a year ago and used for socks (scroll down) for Joy.
The pink will be perfect for one of the new babies at school.

Now that I fixed my toilet last week and I am armed with Dare to Repair I will tackle my leaky drain today. It looks pretty simple.

At least I am getting a weekly post in my goal is to try to post once during the week too, my second goal is to get back and read your bogs and comment more.

There are 2 Types of Men

It has been Ms. Fix-It weekend. My vacuum has been acting up, the power nozzel was not working properly. So I got out the manual and began to troubleshoot. I did everything I could but realized it was probably a wiring problem. I didn't want to tackle that for fear of making things worse. So it was off to the repair center (and two weeks without a vacuum). What I got out of this was I can change the belt when it is worn or the light buld when it is out. I also discovered when I got out my tool kit...

...and opened it, I discovered this...

Which comes back to there are two types of men, the type that cherish tools and put them away were they can find them and the other type who leave the tools where they used them soon to disappear. Which brings me to the men who have lived with me and since they couldn't find what the wanted they knew where they could. Thus I have started shopping for a new tool kit. While exploring I found this book and ordered it, of course I wanted to get free shipping so I ordered this too.

Round two of Ms. Fix-It was the upstairs toilet. Sometimes it would continue to run after flushing. I bought a new tank flap at Home Depot and replaced it. The jury is still out on whether it worked because it has only been a few hours and it was an intermittent problem.

On the knitting front, I have continued to work on the golf club head covers (one almost done), the caplet (on the second skein of 4) I will knit til I am out of yarn, a little bit of the candy bag and I cast on this plastic bag holder. I am sorry if you are not on ravelry yet because the previous links are to my projects there.
So far in 2008 I have been a better knitter and blogger my next task is to eat healthier and exercise!

I've gotten back to knitting!

I have spent a lot of time on Ravelry which inspired me to start knitting again. Every once and awhile I get stuck and put down needles. I am rather stubborn at times and refuse to cast on a new project. With the attitude that I shouldn't start something else when I already have 5-6 WIPs and countless UFOs I won't start something new. The lack of knitting contributed to my becoming an uninspired blogger (which is obvious if you are reading this). Before my breakthrough I went to a favorite LYS winter sale and bought this:

You see, my slump didn't affect my desire to purchase yarn! I bought:

1. 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (because everyone loves it and I have never tried it before) fetching is in my queue in Ravelry.


2. 2 balls of Allegro by Filatura Di Crosa possible for some slipper socks (I hope I bought enough)


3. 2 skeins of Sulka by Mirasol Yarn, I have already forgotten the project I had in mind, oops.


4. 1 skein Mountain Colors Bearfoot in a lovely green for socks.


5. And a skein of Noro's new Kureyon Sock


6. I also bought 2 skeins of Cascade 220 in white for some forgotten reason but it is good to have in the stash!

Merry Christmas to Me! (The sale was the weekend before Christmas). I didn't have a great Christmas list this year so the kids each came up with some fun presents. From Carolyn a brownie edge pan (I love the corners) and Lily bought me some No Pudge Brownie mixes and my favorite Diet Coke. Michael got me season 6 of Home Improvement, that show always makes me laugh. And from Joy a gift card to Peg Ann Kompany, a local store I love. My list for next year and mother's day (because I know I will forget and I can come back to this post) A fireplace candelabra and a coffee roaster.
After Christmas I spent a lot of time exploring Ravelry. It's awesome. I updated my library and then explored the projects people had made from the books I owned. I did the same with my stash adding to my queue when I discovered something. Doing this helped me change my thinking. The Misti Alpaca Chunky which was originally for the Bold and Bulky Mini Cardi from Fitted Knits has now been cast on to make the Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet by Julia Allen.

I also started Mandy's Candy Bag with some Sugar N Cream from my stash.

I am going to fill it with homemade caramels and give them to my sister-in-law to thank her for hosting Christmas. It flies but with juggling projects I am a little over half way done.

I have also been working a little on the afghan, the golf club head covers and of course a dishcloth (car knitting). I am going to try to be a better poster. A goal of once a week.
